Overall, Highland Park 12 is a solid basic single malt a bit thin for my taste and somewhat boring. The nose could be better, but the palate is good and the finish is fantastic. But, if you’re just starting out, this is the perfect entry point. Valknut, for example, is a good one-step-up comparison. Overall: I don’t dislike this, it’s just that I like other Highland Parks better. Through the sea and smoke comes a very tempered malt sweetness.įinish: Sea and smoke at first, sweet malt creeps in. Light mouthfeel, mildly oily and not too full. Highland Park 12 Year Old Single Malt - Orkney Islands - Medium-bodied, golden-yellow, smoky notes, malty, apricot notes, light peaty notes, minerally. Sea salt and smoke explode on the swallow and finish. ![]() Palate: Slight tingle and honey on the sip. Nose: Light heather smoke, clear salinity.
